VidCon was originally founded in 2010 by veteran YouTube influencers Hank and John Green their Youtube channel “Vlogbrothers”. VidCon is an annual event. In 2010 – 2011 it was held at Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles. From 2012 to present it is now being held at Anaheim Convention Centre in California.
In 2017, VidCon’s flagship event attracted over 30,000 attendees, which included exhibitors and sponsors. In 2018 Viacom officially acquired VidCom as host of the biggest conference dedicated to YouTube and online video. Viacom which is one of the largest US multimedia companies in the world based on it’s revenue.

Viacom is known for being associated with film and television. In 2018 Viacom officially acquired VidCom as host of the biggest conference dedicated to YouTube and online video. “Viacom which is one of the largest US multimedia companies in the world based on it’s revenue. has become the foremost gathering place for the passionate online video community, and the access to talent, experts and education that VidCon provides for attendees is unparalleled,” said Jason Jordan, Viacom’s EVP of multi platform strategy and operations, said whilst announcing the pact. VidCon has introduced events in Europe and Australia, as Viacom intends to expand the conference to other international and domestic markets.
Pass 1 – The Community Track
To be on the premises VidCon credentials is a RFID wristband. There are three types of passes that are sometimes called tracks or badges. it costs between $150 – $750.

A lottery event is held where fans can enter online, the winning participates receive access to The Industry Track reception with the chance to network, and connect with content creators, the RFID wristband loads all meet & greet sessions with creators that you want, anyone can have professional photos taken on the day. Children under 8 years old can attend for free, and every child 15 and under accompanied by an 18+ adult. There are chaperone ticket rules, and services for people with disabilities, and special accessible seating arranged and ASL Interpreters situated at the main stage and arena throughout the VidCon experience.
Pass 2: – The Creator Track
This pass is specifically for members of the online video community who produce content, it gives access to creator lounges, feature panels, workshops and access is given to the main and second floor of the venue. Pass 3 The Industry Track is the most expensive, it’s aimed at those in the online video business, given via invite you will meet industry leaders, experts, top creators, and access to keynote and round table discussions, it includes product demonstrations and hands on training, access to all events, including Community and Track content. This has more if a personal experience. VidCon provides Industry members with an industry lounge, and a private zone for break periods, away from other attendees at anytime. As it’s VidCon’s 10th anniversary many surprises on the day, and an unforgettable experience.
